Summary

It was a great story - not my favorite but well-written。 The characters were so creepy and well-developed。 I will look for more by this author

Eh didn’t love this one。 I was excited because I found it at the library (it’s in the browsing collection so you can’t like request it or anything) so I snatched it up but tbh was very hard to get into。 I wasn’t hooked from the start。 I didn’t love any of the characters。 The person who goes missing (not rlly a spoiler it’s in the description) like i barely knew to even have a connection to and be like oh no he’s missing! This was an entertaining audio book listen!

This mystery takes place in an apartment house in Paris。 The inhabitants are all keeping secrets。 Jess has a disappearance to solve and she does, after a few twists and turns。

This story was long and kind of pointless。 Of all of her books, I enjoyed this the least。

This was another pretty good read。 It captivated me from the beginning and forced me to keep reading。 However, towards the middle I found myself wanting the pace of the book to increase。 There were times where I felt like it was dragging on。 And then the last 30ish pages were all page turners。 It's too bad that that suspense wasn't carried through the entire book。 But overall entertaining story and I finished it in 2 days so it couldn't have been that bad LOL This was another pretty good read。 It captivated me from the beginning and forced me to keep reading。 However, towards the middle I found myself wanting the pace of the book to increase。 There were times where I felt like it was dragging on。 And then the last 30ish pages were all page turners。 It's too bad that that suspense wasn't carried through the entire book。 But overall entertaining story and I finished it in 2 days so it couldn't have been that bad LOL 。。。more

Loved it

I’ve read three of Lucy Foley’s book now and I think they just aren’t for me。 I was bored throughout the first 80%。 I found the last 20% more entertaining but predictable。

I loved it, highly entertaining!

1。5⭐️ I really wish I liked this book more。 I am so confused with so many things about this book。 Loved the short chapters though。 I enjoyed The Guest List so much more。

Really appreciate all the curse words being in french to really double down on the Parisian setting。

I wasn’t sure how to feel about the old apartment building setting initially。 But it worked out really well and it crafted a suspenseful atmosphere until the very last page。The big mystery is up in the air all throughout the book。 There are twists, unlikable characters and some very subtle clues about what really happened。The chapters are super short, which makes this such an easy and entertaining read。 As in the author’s previous books, there are multiple POVs, but this time the characters are I wasn’t sure how to feel about the old apartment building setting initially。 But it worked out really well and it crafted a suspenseful atmosphere until the very last page。The big mystery is up in the air all throughout the book。 There are twists, unlikable characters and some very subtle clues about what really happened。The chapters are super short, which makes this such an easy and entertaining read。 As in the author’s previous books, there are multiple POVs, but this time the characters are much more complex, which make this an even darker story。The Parisian atmosphere felt genuine, which is just perfect as I finished right when Emily in Paris new season released。 。。。more

Quando eu achei que já tinha descoberto todo o plot do livro, o final me pegou totalmente desprevenida。

Slow build up that keeps you guessing and makes you want to stay up all night to finish this!

Hated this。 Cheap atmosphere, cliched plot, contrived twists, and set in Paris for 。。。 no reason? There are clunky French-isms and comprehension issues littered throughout。 Characters are constantly saying something in French and then immediately repeating it in English for the benefit of the reader, which is both infuriating and a waste of words。 I tried to give it the benefit of the doubt initially on this front, because it's not easy to write a novel in two languages, but there is truly no ne Hated this。 Cheap atmosphere, cliched plot, contrived twists, and set in Paris for 。。。 no reason? Honestly it just feels like the author spent some time in Paris and wanted to show off her cultural knowledge/new vocab/shopping bags。 I don't know why I read this and I wish I hadn't。 。。。more

Some good unforeseen plot twists and a definite page turner but lacking the originality for the 5th star。 Overall I enjoyed it more than other who-done-it mysteries I’ve read。

Got interesting 3/4 of the way in。 Found it hard to love the main character。 Giving it 3 stars because of the suspense element。

Suspenseful and reflective

Oh, mon dieu! 😅 This book was such an intriguing read。 A modern take on a classic genre/ whodunnit story structure。 I’m also a sucker for anything set in Paris。 The book had a lot of twists and turns that, if done in any other way, might have felt over the top。 But it really worked for me and kept me guessing until the very end。 I’m really looking forward to trying out her other books 🤓😄

It was a fun read。 Some of the twists I definitely didn’t see coming, which is always exciting。

Shannon Kelly blair

Good solid thriller/mystery with twists and turns。 Very good writing to give it a very cringey and claustrophobic atmosphere。

4。5 Stars The Paris Apartment (audiobook) by Lucy Foley read by a full cast。 I ultimately liked this story。 It’s way more complicated than I first thought it was going to be。 Everyone is hiding something and there’s a lot of characters to keep track of。

Veronica Marchese

Closer to 3。5⭐️The writing style was incredibly difficult - so many random (unnecessary imo) parts of sentences in French。 A few good twists though so credit there making it a decently good mystery read。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I am surprised at how much I enjoyed this book after the 200 page mark。 At first I really thought it was going down the lines of being a lovers quarrel (with how many people Ben was fucking)。 But once everything started to pick up and more was revealed the more I found myself enjoying this book。 I haven't really read any Mystery books so it could also be that。 But I'd say at this current time I think it was a strong mystery。 Nothing to mind blowing and the first 200 pages I found myself guessing I am surprised at how much I enjoyed this book after the 200 page mark。 At first I really thought it was going down the lines of being a lovers quarrel (with how many people Ben was fucking)。 But once everything started to pick up and more was revealed the more I found myself enjoying this book。 I haven't really read any Mystery books so it could also be that。 But I'd say at this current time I think it was a strong mystery。 Nothing to mind blowing and the first 200 pages I found myself guessing a lot of the light reveals。 But I'd say once I hit page 300 I was pretty surprised at some of the big twists。Character wise, I feel like most of them weren't very memorable besides Mimi and Sophie (really the strongest personalities in the book)。 Not gonna lie, really didn't like Jess or Nick。 Both of them were pretty annoying。 Was really feeling Theo。 And I loved how Ben was just living his best slut life, till he wasn't。 And of course, I'm sure he hadn't learned much of anything。 Overall, I think that most of the characters were cutouts of stereotypes。 And I'm pretty content with how everything ended, might have been a little too sudden。 I guess there was no real climax with the way Jess and Ben got out of their situation。 But it's fine。 Ben & Theo lived so that's all that matters to me。 And honestly, Theo deserved better then Jess。Overall, it was a mystery to enjoy and I went in with mild expectations。 Wasn't disappointed。 。。。more

One of my favorite books I read in 2022。 The way the story is woven, all the secrets coming to life was a literal page Turner。 I finished this book so quickly because I couldn’t put it down。
